Marcene Marcus, LCSW

Marcene Marcus is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She received her BA in English with a minor in Psychology from UC, Santa Barbara and her Master’s in Social Work with a minor in Law from Columbia University.

Marcene’s style is warm and empathetic, paying careful attention to be culturally sensitive.  She works alongside her clients in their journeys of healing and growth by helping to develop awareness, self-compassion and resiliency.  Marcene specializes in the areas of complicated grief, anxiety, depression, marital conflicts, infertility, parenting, adoption, trauma, self-esteem building, life transitions, communication, and family challenges.

This California-based clinician who grew up on the East coast, has worked in multiple settings such as non-profit family service agencies, schools, outpatient clinics, crisis stabilization programs, residential facilities, medical clinics and private practices. Her experience providing individual, couples, family and group therapy has spanned the ages from children (birth to 12), teens, transitional aged youth, LGBTQIA+, adults and older adults.

Marcene’s approach is integrative, holistic, and strengths-based. She believes in holding hope for each person who comes to therapy seeking change and finds great fulfillment in joining with clients to accomplish their unique successful outcomes.  An eclectic mix of evidenced based techniques (such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Task-Centered, Solution-focused, Psychodynamic, and MI) are part of her training.  

When not working, Marcene loves being out and about with friends and family, going to the beach, swimming laps, writing books, playing with dogs, painting and drawing.
