Tanya DePorto, M.D.

“Doctor, Friend, Advocate”

Dr. DePorto is very happy to be joining the group at Perlman Clinic. She believes in the body’s ability to heal itself through a healthy lifestyle, excellent nutrition, and stress management. She appreciates the need for Western medicine, especially for acute conditions, but places much value in holistic, integrative, evidenced-based practices to prevent and mitigate disease. She is compassionate, an excellent listener, extremely organized, and a tireless advocate for her patients. She provides medical care and preventive services to adults aged 18 years and older.

Dr. DePorto completed medical school (UBC) and 4 years of anesthesiology residency (Queen’s) in Canada prior to immigrating to the USA in 2016. Once settled in the USA, she re-entered anesthesiology residency at UCLA but after several months, began to question whether this was the type of care she wanted to provide for her patients. She realized that she wanted to help her patients avoid the operating room through prevention of disease. Dr. DePorto enrolled in the Preventive Medicine and Public Health program at Loma Linda University and is now Board Eligible in Preventive Medicine with a Master’s in Public Health. Prior to completing her MD, Dr. DePorto was a research scientist and completed a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (UBC).

Dr. DePorto loves spending time with her husband and step-daughter. She and her husband adopt rescue animals in need of a home. She spends time being outdoors, hiking, learning about medicinal plants, and cooking.
