“Doctor, Friend, Advocate”

David Hirshfield, M.D. was born in Albuquerque, NM where he grew up and went to college as a UNM Lobo. He then went to medical school at the University of Colorado on an Air Force scholarship. He did his Internal Medicine residency within the Air Force at David Grant Medical Center in Fairfield, CA, and proceeded to practice at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. After moving around, he settled down to raise his family in Bethesda, MD where he practiced primary care and grew to appreciate the bond that can form between a primary care doctor and their patients. He continues to practice here at the Perlman Clinic with the belief that medical care is strongest when there is balanced two way communication between the provider and the patient.
