Her worldly experience inspired a commitment to community service that is the root of her decision to pursue medicine. In medical school she completed a family medicine honors program focused on expanding access to care in underserved communities. During residency she provided care to refugees through a partnership with the International Rescue Committee in Charlottesville, VA.

After completing residency in 2016, Dr. Bista moved to California with her husband whose childhood dream was to live in San Diego. Outside work she enjoys her family, vegetarian cooking and beach days.
