Dr. Uri Guefen grew up in Mexico City, where he attended the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Dr. Guefen also completed a year-long internship and a year of Public Health in Tijuana, Mexico before moving to the USA in 1978. He then attended the University of Miami, where he completed a 3-year General Surgery residency. He enjoyed his Surgical ER rotations so much that he decided to switch specialties, becoming board-certified in Emergency Medicine and practicing Emergency Medicine for 22 years in San Diego County and Imperial County. Dr. Guefen has always enjoyed traveling and exploring different cultures, and was able to combine it working as a “Ship’s Doctor“ in the USA and abroad.
Since 2006, Dr. Guefen has been working in Primary care and Urgent care in San Diego County and Imperial County. He joined Perlman Clinic as a General Practice PCP in 2021.
When you meet Dr. Guefen, you will find he has a great sense of humor and is a caring and personable health care “advocate.”
In his free time, he enjoys traveling, swimming, walking, hiking, and riding his motorcycle.
